“Mary!” (John 20:16)

Mary weeping at the tomb suddenly turns twice in recognition of Christ’s voice. This turning represents a transformational discerning of the Spirit. Mary’s encounter with the resurrected Christ reveals a Trinitarian understanding of God: God as human who identifies with the marginalized and the victim, God as creator who heals and forgives, God as Spirit amidst us.
